Scope
This policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use VIRTUALgebra.
Information We Collect
- Account & Authentication (Clerk): name, email, and related profile/session data.
- Tutor Interactions: problems, attempts/answers, and hint requests.
- Feedback: messages submitted via /feedback (optional name/email).
- Technical: IP, device/browser, pages visited, timestamps, and error logs (via our host).
- Cookies/Local Storage: auth/session cookies; rate-limit cookies (

); a local progress counter.
Children’s Privacy
Not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the service, contact us to remove the account/data. For EU/UK, users must meet the local age of digital consent.
How We Use Information
- Operate and improve the service (generate hints, respond to support).
- Authenticate users, prevent abuse, and maintain security/availability.
- Communicate about updates and policy changes.
- Send problem/attempt text to our AI provider to generate hints.

Contract, legitimate interests (security/improvement), and consent (where required).

International Transfers
We may process/store data in the U.S. and other countries. Appropriate safeguards (e.g., SCCs) are used as required.
Retention
- Account data: kept while active; removed on request/closure (subject to legal duties).
- Tutor interactions: retained as needed for operation/debugging.
- Logs: generally short-lived unless needed for security/legal reasons.
- Feedback: retained while useful for product quality.

Do Not Sell/Share
We do not sell personal information. California residents may exercise rights via the contact above.
Security
We use reasonable technical/organizational measures (TLS, least privilege). No method is 100% secure.
Changes
We will post updates with a new effective date. Continued use means you accept the revised policy.
